I appreciate your soliciting my opinion.
I believe that the preservation of the natural and built environment in the Town of Otsego should be a huge priority.  Any further erosion of our
natural beauty like what has happened along Rt. 28 would ruin the unique character and beauty of the region.
I believe the growth of tourism and the Dreams Park is destroying the rural character of the Township.
I disagree with the premise that the town govt has the authority to direct private property uses beyond basic code requirements. Particularly when
restricting commercial uses.
I do not believe that this survey adequately addresses the needs of the town. Some of the questions can be misleading, e.g. question related to
weekly rentals does not separate out stays at B&B's.
I don't think the town has a right to tell people how and what todo with their property. If this is the purpose of this survey it is wrong.
I feel there is a need for some retail stores in the area. (Target, etc. )
I fully support the idea of increasing lot sizes in  Pierstown to a minimum of 20 acres and any other Town  area that is susceptible to large land
sell-offs, in order to prevent housing over-development and keep the rural character of the Town of Otsego in tact.  I grew up in Cooperstown and
intend to retire here mainly because of the rural character of the area. It is that rural character that makes the area so inviting for people to come
and live, but if the development that comes with the influx of new residents is not properly managed, the beautiful rural character that so many in
the area treasure will be lost to the McMansionization craze that has marred so many other beautiful, once-rural areas around the country. I say
this from personal observation having lived all over the country since graduating from CCS, near many major metropolitan areas, and seeing the
negative effects of poorly managed sprawl on the once rural surrounding areas - and it doesn't matter how far you are from a metro area:  sprawl
from weekend, seasonal and vacation homes can be just as negative as from permanent residence development, if not properly managed.  I
understand the financial needs and concerns of the Town in terms of increasing the tax base to support increased maintenance/ facility costs,
etc. If  defined, managed and enforced properly, revised land use and development regulations can be instituted for the Town that enable smart
tax base growth as well as smart commercial and residential development that retain the rural character of the Town.
I have lived here for over 46 years.  Nothing has changed.  Now all we have is regulations and restrictions.  We need to get our roads paved!!!
We need good paying light industry jobs for our children, so that they can live here (not medical or Summer jobs with recreational related.
i hope this is not anti-development
I never want to see anything more than light manufacturing operations in the Town of Otsego. And any businesses more than a small cottage
industry should not be allowed in residential areas.  And anything currently in a residential area that is inappropriate needs not to be allowed to
grow and needs to be mitigated or moved.
