Protect landowners rights.
Protect the environment or lose it!
Protect the town from helter-skelter wind farms without a state-wide plan
Protection of our town's ruralcharacter is critical. That said, let's not go overboard with draconian measures to do so. Flexibility and common
sense should rule!
Q 9 is vague - I assumed "need" includes existing facilities that are very much needed, as well as unfulfilled needs - for example, we need the
animal hospital we already have; we need the convenience stores we already have - we may not need any more, but we need the ones we have.
Open space and rural character can best be preserved by clustering development in designated pockets - it does no good to require 5-acre lots if
all you end up with is one house every 5 acres, up and down the road - but our zoning law discourages clustering by prohibiting common
driveways, septic systems and wells.
REDUCE TAXES and they will come
Rural Sprawl will downgrade the quality of life in the Town. It can be controlled by limiting all growth to existing Hamlets. This can be done by
providing basic infrastucture and requiring new development to take place by extension (at private expense)of suitable streets, sanitary and storm
sewers and water supply.
Should consider regionalization and consolidation of village and town services; Should consider some development to expand tax base; should
increase funding to Village to cover EMS and Fire services; should allow tasteful development--cannot continue to afford high taxes in Village,
Town, and School without more services, i.e., sidewalk plowing, trash removal; consider needs of increasing senior population in planning
Should have bike paths between hamlets and into Cooperstown.
Speed limit is 45 mph on east side of lake at certain areas where children play in front yards and pets have been killed. There are many homes
on County Route 22 with small front yards and cars go 55 and 60 mph. Does a child have to die to get the speed limit lowered in these populous
areas?
